excerpt from the thoughts of charly moeller at the opening ceremony of the car park kaisertrasse/gartenstrasse in huenfeld.

in the conceptional design phase the architect has to be aware of not being able to achieve the shape of a residential house - a garage like character of the structure will always be present.

light, formal and transparent the building is located at the ‘hainmauer’ whilst the passing vehicles at ‘gartenstraße’ can be watched. transparent parapets instead of common crash barriers, intense but discreet colors create an effect of lightness.

parking of cars on the top level of the building was knowingly avoided by the principal to provide the citizens with an improved microclimate.

Altogether this car park is a friendly, light and easy to navigate construction that provides the drivers with enough space to manoeuvre their vehicles. (applies to not very experienced persons, too.)
